On 3 February 2020 Acting Independent Commissioner Against Corruption Mr Michael Riches commenced an evaluation of the practices, policies and procedures of the Department for Correctional Services.

Mr Riches says “in light of the changing circumstances with respect to COVID-19 and in consultation with the Chief Executive of the Department for Correctional Services Mr David Brown, I have decided to suspend the evaluation effective immediately.”

Resources attributed to the evaluation from both the Department and the ICAC have been reallocated to business continuity planning at this time.

A Department all-staff survey has been placed on hold. However the Acting Commissioner will still receive written submissions relevant to the scope of the evaluation from staff, members of the public and interested stakeholders until 5pm, Friday 3 April 2020.

The evaluation has not been cancelled.

Information regarding the recommencement date will be made publicly available once determined.
