Statement by the Hon. Bruce Lander QC
Independent Commissioner Against Corruption

As a result of an investigation by my office a 73 year old man from Felixstow has been charged with one count of abuse of public office.

It will be alleged that between 1 April 2004 and 11 October 2006 the man, who was then working as an Estates Services Officer at the Public Trustee, failed to perform or discharge an official duty or function whilst handling an estate valued at $14 million, and he did so with the intention of either securing a benefit for others or causing a detriment to another person.

The man has been summonsed to appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court on 18 June 2020 at 10am.

No further statement will be made at this time.
