Statement by the Hon. Bruce Lander QC
Independent Commissioner Against Corruption

Two people formerly employed in senior executive roles in a public sector agency have been arrested as a result of an investigation by my office.

On 30 January 2020, a 44 year old woman from Henley Beach was arrested and charged with one count of abuse of public office and three counts of acting dishonestly.

On 5 March 2020, a 62 year old man from Goodwood was arrested and charged with two counts of abuse of public office, three counts of deception, one count of acting dishonestly and five counts of dishonestly dealing with documents.

It will be alleged that both individuals claimed travel expenses including airfares, accommodation and meals, for travel that was for private purposes. It will also be alleged that during the course of my investigation both former executives took steps to conceal their conduct in respect of the claims made.

The woman and man have been bailed to appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court at 10am on 11 March 2020.

In an unrelated matter, on 28 February 2020, a 50 year old man from Crystal Brook formerly employed as a public officer in TAFE SA, was charged with one count of dishonestly dealing with documents. It will be alleged that the man falsified a document to benefit another person. The man has been summonsed to appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court at 10am on 22 April 2020.
