Review of Legislative Schemes

On 31 October 2014, The Hon. Bruce Lander QC announced that he would undertake a review of the legislative schemes governing the oversight and management of complaints about police and complaints and reports about public administration in South Australia. He also announced that he would conduct an evaluation of the practices, policies and procedures of the Police Ombudsman.

Section 7 of the Independent Commissioner Against Corruption Act 2012 (ICAC Act) provides the Commissioner with the discretion to conduct such inquires in public. He has decided to do so. The legislative reviews and the evaluation will be conducted in public to allow all interested parties to make a contribution.

Today the Commissioner has released a discussion paper that outlines the relevant issues and makes a call for submissions.

If you would like to make a submission regarding the reviews or the evaluation, the Commissioner invites you to download the discussion paper from the ICAC website www.icac.sa.gov.au.

Submissions close on 27 March 2015.

It is expected that the public hearing will take place in April or May 2015.
