On 2 March 2015 a 47 year old woman from Redwood Park who is employed in the public sector was arrested and charged with abuse of public office, 233 counts of theft and 114 counts of dishonest dealing with documents, as a result of an investigation by my office. The alleged offences occurred between July 2012 and October 2013. The woman has been bailed and will appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court on 15 May 2015.

In another matter referred to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) by my office, a 61 year old man from Henley Beach who was employed in the public sector will appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court on Monday 20 April 2015. The man has been charged with six counts of abuse of public office between February 2013 and July 2013. The alleged offences relate to the improper use of information for personal gain.

I have now referred a number of matters for prosecution which will be made public in due course. Public statements will be issued from time to time, when these referrals result in an arrest or an initial court appearance unless I believe the circumstances make that inappropriate, or if it could prejudice a person’s trial.

I will not routinely issue public statements regarding arrests or prosecutions by SAPOL resulting from matters referred to SAPOL by my office under the Independent Commissioner Against Corruption Act 2012. These referrals have resulted in a number of prosecutions. I will report on those matters in the Annual Report.
